Finding something is often the easiest part. Doing something with what you've found is the true beauty.
In the case of the Halo: Reach data pads (whose locations were leaked before we even had the opportunity to play the game) all is not lost. We can expect countless YouTube videos showing us where to go to get each of the 19 data pads, scored hastily with stolen pop songs that have absolutely zero relevance to the game. But who is going to explain what they mean?
Putting the Halo story pieces together is a much more difficult task. Reporting where the content is located versus interpreting what the content means is the difference between buying a cheap electonic keyboard and being able to play the piano.
So how is the SGP affected? We're still left with a significant challenge even if the "thrill of the hunt" is no longer there. Just as Apollo and company are trying to interpret Halsey's Journal, we also need to interpret the data pads.
Personally, I don't feel that I should allow myself to be denied the thrill of the hunt just because some loser wanted to make money from an unfortunate game leak.
So to that end, I'm refraining from reading any of the leaked info and I'm not going on data pad searches with anyone who has. At least for a little while. It sounds bratty and childish, but I paid good money for my game and I want to enjoy it. Waaah! I want the satisfaction of finding a few of these things with my own effort. I want the thrill of the hunt was well as the thrill of the catch.
So who's with me? Looks like Imppa? Apollo? Pulse? Ark? Do we all "take an oath" not to look at the data pad spoilers?

I'm with you. Only the last one will probably be pretty hard like the Data Hive one. It's going to be a bumpy ride!
ODST was nice because only a few people played it often, so less glitches would be found. That's where we came in. As for Reach, on the first day the Online counter beat Halo 3's in all time, right? We might have to be faster this time. I don't think that is how we work, but we may have to change.

I'm in it with you, CG! No spoilers whatsoever for me, least of all hidden objects (what's the point of even looking if you cheat?). I found 28 audio files on my own, and only looked up number 29 when I spent about six hours total of gametime, roaming the dark streets in search of it. Of course, it'll be more difficult to find these datapads, but it'll be more fun to make it a group effort ;D
Oh, and I think now's a good time to mention that I'll be seeing you on matchmaking by this weekend! :)

I will try my best to avoid any spoilers about anything. It's still a bit hard on the Bungie forums, because people just say it without a warning and there you have it: spoiled for ever.
I might not go there anymore, actually. :/

That's why this (http://www.bungie.net/stats/reach/default.aspx?player=Phantasm2008) is the only page I go to on Bnet, aside from threads that we've started. Nobody thinks anything about spoiling the fun for everyone :(

Yeah I am uninterested in spoiling the locations of all these things, especially since there's no achievement and no reason to get them fast.
