Work-In-Progress (Halo: Reach) / WIP: Covenant Ranks Guide
« on: October 26, 2010, 15:02:57 »
I often find myself wondering what enemies are included, for example, in the Leadership Element commendation (kill a Leader-class enemy during the Campaign).
I also never know what a Grunt Hero is or what an Elite Spec-Ops looks like.

Because of that, I think a guide on Covenant Ranks should be made and that's what I'll be working on in the next days.
My intention is to catalog every single enemy from the Halo games (I seriously don't care about characters that appeared for 2 seconds in Legends or whatever), excluding Halo Wars - because it sucks, I mean, because it makes no sense to do it. I also don't own Halo Wars (and yes, I can have an opinion on something I don't own).

It should look something like this:

Halo CE:
  Grunts:
    Rank 1
    Rank 2
    etc.
  Elites:
    Rank 1
    Rank 2
    etc.
  etc.

Halo 2:
  Grunts:
    Rank 1
    Rank 2
    etc.
  Elites:
    Rank 1
    Rank 2
    etc.
  etc.

etc.

Every single rank should have an in-game image from the game they appear in, ie, in Halo CE, the pic of a grunt is a Halo CE grunt - NOT a Halo Reach grunt just because it looks prettier.

Geddit? Like it? Post away!

Hey, guys.
I don't understand what these numbers on the bottom mean.

Will you please explain it to me?

Thank you.

Hum.. yeah.
Link removed. The page was from Halo Reach Planet, the guys who knew where the Data Pads were even before Reach had come out.
Sorry to redirect you there, I didn't know it was them who had "spoiled" the Data Pads.

I found this in this B.net thread.

EDIT: You can still find the link on the OP of the thread linked above.
You should see it anyway...

[NOTE:  IF YOU WANT TO FIND EVERY LAST THING IN THE GAME ON YOUR OWN, STOP READING THIS THREAD NOW !!!]

First of all I'd like to thank all of you who played online with me today. It was the first time I ever played Halo (or any other game) with other people I actually knew (aside from a friend who played Halo 3's campaign on Legendary with me so he could have the achievement [which I already had obtained solo]). Maybe that's why I Team Killed a lot. lol
It was incredibly fun. :)

Now, on to what really matters.
On the campaign level Winter Contingency, the first playable one, I found a Data Log in one of the buildings that surround the small-red-beacon-thing-that-we-find-in-the-beginning-of-the-level.
I think it was the building on the right, ie, when you find the beacon, turn right. Just search all of the buildings. :/

Pressing a button (B with Bumper Jumper) allowed the player to read the 5 pages of text.

It was the only one I found, but I think it'd be a bit strange to be the only one in the game.
So... maybe we should start searching?

Theorizers / Going blind
« on: August 02, 2010, 18:11:49 »
This post and the next post made me think:
"Hey, what if Bungie wanted us to solve this, whatever it is, from a different perspective? What if they wanted us to see things differently? *pause* OMGWTFBBQ! BLIND! WE MUST BE BLIND!!"

So.. what if we were blind? Would anything change? Would the banners be different, would the glyphs be different?

So there... a suggestion. Play the game blind. :)

SooOoOooo... START MASHING YOUR FACE WITH A PENCIL!! -- I mean, turn the Blind skull on! :)

I can't do it because I STILL don't have my game: I borrowed it to a friend. -.-
Oh, and if you're up to it, do this too. Please.

Theorizers / Making Super Glyphs appear
« on: February 27, 2010, 17:32:44 »
So...
I don't know if I'm the first saying this but the Super-Tri glyph appears when your checkpoint is in D04 and you die. Don't believe me? Start a new Mombasa Streets game on Easy, run to D04, check to see if the Super-Tri is there (it wont be), get a checkpoint in D04 (don't fight for 2 minutes) and kill yourself (in D04 or not, it doesn't matter). The Super-Tri is now there for your viewing pleasure.

So, what about the Super-Di and the Super-Mono (which I have NEVER seen by myself)? Maybe they appear when you get a checkpoint in a district (DXX) and die in the same district (DXX), or maybe they appear when you get a checkpoint in a district (DXX) and die in another district DYY).

WE should try to find what district DXX and DYY are.

So... any questions? Any ideas?

EDIT:
So.. let's get this going on.

There are 64 possible combinations (checkpoint district - death district):
00 - 00     03 - 00     04 - 00     05 - 00     06 - 00     08 - 00     09 - 00     10-00
00 - 03     03 - 03     04 - 03     05 - 03     06 - 03     08 - 03     09 - 03     10-03
00 - 04     03 - 04     04 - 04     05 - 04     06 - 04     08 - 04     09 - 04     10-04
00 - 05     03 - 05     04 - 05     05 - 05     06 - 05     08 - 05     09 - 05     10-05
00 - 06     03 - 06     04 - 06     05 - 06     06 - 06     08 - 06     09 - 06     10-06
00 - 08     03 - 08     04 - 08     05 - 08     06 - 08     08 - 08     09 - 08     10-08
00 - 09     03 - 09     04 - 09     05 - 09     06 - 09     08 - 09     09 - 09     10-09
00 - 10     03 - 10     04 - 10     05 - 10     06 - 10     08 - 10     09 - 10     10-10

We know that 04 - 04 produces the Super-Tri Glyph, which means we need to test 63 combinations.
It shouldn't be too hard if we divided this by everyone...

Oh: because when testing some combinations you have to travel a lot, you need to fight a bit (hurt a little, BE HURT, etc.) so you don't get a checkpoint.

Theorizers / Commandeering the City's Garbage Trucks
« on: December 29, 2009, 21:06:45 »
Go here and listen carefully to what Buck says at 2:28 - "Hell, we could commandeer the City's garbage trucks if we needed".

Could this mean we can do it? We've all seen Phantoms carrying what looks like garbage containers. We've all seen the Oliphants in CM:MS.
Does it mean anything at all?
If so, what does it mean?

ODST General Discussion / Guide Request: New Mombasa Key Locations
« on: December 29, 2009, 16:16:03 »
Greetings,
I think there should be a FAQ with the location and the names of the places that sometimes we talk about in the Forums; for instance, the Casino.

I have NO {insert word} IDEA of where the Casino is.

It would be quite simple:
Name of the place (appear alphabetically ordered)
Link to general in-game view image
Link to location on map

Oh, and the various Entrances to Data Hive? 'The eff are those?

This FAQ should clear all these questions. :)

P.S.: I obviously can't write it because I don't know any of those places..
I could make the maps, though (in case you liked this one.. I'd make something like that [only red dots, of course])

Report In! / SI and the Kikowani numbers
« on: November 22, 2009, 21:20:18 »
Hey, people.
I found this
And then this

If you look closely at the wallpapers in the first link, you can see the Kikowani numbers and many more things.

Ideas? Theories? How is this related to ODST?

This is also kind of a reply to ColdGlider's topic: ColdGlider's topic

Theorizers / Kikowani Controller Number
« on: November 20, 2009, 21:43:15 »
I don't think I'm the first one pointing this, but I didn't find anything here in the forums...
We all know about this: http://www.joystiq.com/photos/halo-3-odst-controller/2051486/

I believe KIKOWANI.0624 is a SI-camera on Kikowani Station.
23:03:28:30 is the time of the recording. Maybe the recording started at 23:03 and ended at 28:30 (ie, 4:30 am)???

Why? Start the Kikowani Station mission. The cinematics where you see the camera recording show similar text.
For example:
KIKOWANI.1043
21:01

55.6992.3840 might be the number of some "screen-banner" (like those "access denied", "route closed", etc)...
When you see one of the banners you will immediately notice a similar number.

So.. what do you think?
