Intel / welcometonobleteam.com - Become a Spartan III
« on: June 01, 2010, 21:21:38 »

Join your friends in defending humanity. Start your augmentation today.

In the very end of Halo: Reach Live Action Trailer [Extended Version], under "XBox 360 - Jump In", it reads welcometonobleteam.com.
The page consists the Live Action Trailer, and a chance to become a SPARTAN-III.
:P
All you have to do is to set your name (and optionally, your GT) and upload your image. After this, the augmentation starts. You hardly even notice the liquids flowing in and your body changing! Then, you get to see your face reflecting from your new, shiny armor, just like in the Trailer.
Congratulations! You are now a real SPARTAN-III! If your friends don't believe, you can shove them the diploma you got! In fact, you could share that diploma to all your Facebook friends right away, And print that cool insignia and slam it to your jacket! Girls like Spartans, no?

There really isn't anything there, it's just a marketing page made by Microsoft.
Still, that insignia bugs me: Have we seen that before, Ark?
EDIT: Seems like it's Lambda from Greek alphabet. Thoughts?
EDIT2: Ah Yes: This symbol was used by Spartans (the Originals). Should've remembered that...

You'll see.

Don't know what is a Shotcode?
Wikipedia to the rescue.
Quote
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShotCode/
ShotCode is a circular barcode created by High Energy Magic of Cambridge University. It uses a dartboard-like circle, with a bullseye in the centre and datacircles surrounding it. The technology reads databits from these datacircles by measuring the angle and distance from the bullseye for each.

ShotCodes are designed to be read with a regular camera (including those found on mobile phones and webcams) without the need to purchase other specialised hardware. Because of the circular design, it is also possible for software to detect the angle from which the barcode is read. ShotCodes differ from matrix barcodes in that they do not store regular data - rather, they store a look up number consisting of 40 bits of data. This needs to link to a server that holds information regarding a mapped URL which the reading device can connect to in order to download said data.

Namely, they are encoded URLs.

So, to the point.
Quite some time ago, even before the Halo: Reach Beta wasout, I discovered this from a post made by JoeRogaine. He pointed out that in this picture, on the computer on the right, there is a ShotCode. Later on, a screenshot from the Beta was photoshopped (to make it clearer and usable), and they got this:

ShotCodes can be read with Cellphone cameras together with a application named "ShotReader". It "reads" the picture in real time and prompts the browsers to navigate to a particular site. It can be downloaded from internet for free, and there is a IPhone app similar to it.

This ShotCode IS an URL. When decoded, it gives out a certain website. Who knows which one? Perhaps it's concerning an ARG? Perhaps it is a hilarious Easter Egg? Or maybe it is just a decoration? That is for us to find out.

Right now, this shotcode leads us to http://www.phonifier.com/phonify.php?i=0&m=0&u=http%3A%2F%2Fallantech.blogspot.com, which is nowhere. The only way to make it work is to cut the address so that only the last part remains: allantech.blogspot.com.
However, when the owner of this blog was contacted, he said that he has no connection to Halo:Reach. He had created a shotcode that leads to his page, true, but it was 3 years ago.
So why would Bungie use that shotcode?
It could be
  • a placeholder
  • nothing
  • that there is, infact, a connection
  • or recreated wrong.

Whatever is the case, we must figure this, one way or another!

(Btw, doesn't it resemble Forerunner glyph a bit?)

ODST General Discussion / SGP: Summary of SGPs Findings by Imppa
« on: March 30, 2010, 17:17:53 »
[This has been for some time in the Group forum, but I needed a place where EVERYONE could see it.:P]

________

SGP has been passionately working on mysteries for some time now. We have some cases here...Interested?

I present you: The Summary of SGPs Findings!

Now, before I start, I must say that there are no discoveries, or any revealed secrets: it's all theorizing.
But boy, just what kind of theorizing it is!
Mysteries

Glyphs
The glyphs are the things Secret Glyph Project was originally founded for. They show up in various places, some of them being more common, others more rare and intriquing. They are unique in Halo lore, and they are drawn by the engineers.  The meaning of the glyphs has not been fully undestood yet, and they could possibly hold some kind of mystery within them.
We are WORKING on a FAQ for Glyphs, but it is not near to complete. Therefore, I have made a little summary of all the Glyphs seen in ODST.
The most commons Glyphs; let us call them A and B glyphs. As said, they are the most common ones, seen near Waypoints and inside supply caches. There only these two "normal" glyphs; others similar looking ones are the rotated versions of these.
Simple glyphs: The ones seen near Dead Elites. Contain only the Glowing Y-shape, without any other symbols.
These are the...normal glyphs, shall we say. The following ones are more rare, some that only apper in one certain place.
A variation of B glyphs is SI[SuperIntendent] B Glyph. Same as The B glyph, expect that one of the symbols is replaced with an SI face. Found in the Plaza similar to Tayari Plaza and near some Audio Logs, if I remeber correctly.
Sad SI Glyph: One of the two unique Glyphs. Has no other symbols inside it but a Sad SI face. Is only seen in Squidhenge, a place accessed via security doors, has some nice stone slabs and Engineers...But that's another story.
And the most interesting one of the Glyphs: The SI Tri-Glyph. It has three SI faces inside it. Unique. Only seen in the Plaza, where the SI B Glyphs are. Loads randomly; At times, one can't see it at all, but after he has runned around a little bit, it may show up. This happens because of the Random nature of the game. The randomness also causes the Glyph sometimes to change into a SI Di Glyph or SI Mono glyph. Monos are also seen in the Legendary Ending.

J Banners
As you walk the streets of New Mombasa, or rather,  the parks and courtyards, you see these weird banners with the letter "J" (implying it has something to do with Jotun, the heavy industry company) and series of dots next to it.
The three banners
We have tried to decode the dots in many many ways, without results (though we did get "Gherjsz" once). See more in this discussion.

Plinths
These medium-sized objects are found in various places around New Mombasa. They are grey/beige coloured, and seem to have resemblance to Forerunner shapes, wich is why they are a point of interest of SGP. There are two types of plinth, both featured in this picture, the one one the right is Type-1, and the left one is Type-2. Don't let the glyph and the place where they are standing confuse you, they are not originally there. 4 of them have been found; two type-1s and one Type-2 in level "Mombasa streets", and one in level "Tayari Plaza". Plinths can be easily moved and can be easily made to stand up. Plinths are always found inside Asklon buildings. Nothing has been found from them, and it could be that they are just a decoration.

The Y-Shape
Y-shape is relatively common shape seen in ODST. Best known Y-shape is probably the Y-glyph. Other similiar shapes are the Asklon logo, and a less known Triplicate symbol, seen in ODSTs HUD, In Achievement pictures, and in the Drone camera view in "Uplift Reserve" opening cutscene.
Though the shapes are similiar looking, they are different: This picture shows it. But even though the angles are slightly different, they still share the Y-shape, hinting for some kind of connection between these symbols.
The theory of a mystery in the Y-shape is [tukea] by this picture, took above New Mombasa, showing that the highways make a Y-shape identical to the one of the Y-glyph.
See discussion of the Y-shape and the Triplicate in here.

Ubiquitous numbers
There are some series of numbers and other things that seem to pop up in various places.
The most ubiquitous of them is this:  55.6992.3840 . It can be seen in Security door screens, SuperIntendent[SI] camera views, and even the ODST wallpapers. It also shows up in ODST limited edition controler.
Discussion can be found Here.

QTA XII/VI and the ODST Limited edition controller
During Bungie's 2009 PAX Panel on ODST, in the beginning of the fifth part, a certain patch was shown. Joseph Staten commented the Patch with these words:
Quote
This is a patch we made early up for the team, little secret numbers there, I thought it up for you guys.
Go on and check it yourself.
Later, the same String seen in the patch [QTA XII VI] was spotted in the ODST Limited Edition controller. Joystig.com told something about the interview concerning this Controller:
Quote
At a press event last night, Bungie's Joseph Staten teased that the Halo 3: ODST controller's cryptic text should provide some clues into the mysteries of New Mombasa (if he did his job correctly, he said).
The controller also reveals another cryptic message. It says:
Quote
KIKOWANI.0624. / 23:03:28:30 / 82002 383832 727777 / 55.6992.3840
These mysteries' (or clues') meaning is yet unsolved, but you could say that they are the most "real" mysteries, since Bungie itself has hinted.
See theorizes and discussion here.

Glitches

Bump Glitch
The Bump glitch is a glitch in the game's loading engine, where the engine is triked not to load the area you are accessing. It can be done level "Mombasa streets".
In consequence of the glitch, a certain district is "bumped" or de-loaded. This means that the district lacks many objects; for example, the buildings' and the tall courtyard doors, Optican health-care stations (partly, the screen is left floating in the air), and other minor objects.
Due to this glitchs, many areas that are normally unaccessable can be accessed.
See here for detailed explanation about the glitch and how to perform it.

Zombielites or Elite Resurrection
Once, two SGP regulars (The "SGP Kidz", Scatcycle and ODST Glitcher) were messing around in Squidhenge. Staring the Engineers, shooting around, and throwing grenades randomly.
So just happens that when a dead bodies of the Elites were fatally hit by some grenades, they got mad. And stood up.
Elite Resurrection is a glitch that rises the bodies of the Dead Elites into a combat stance for a couple of seconds. The Elites are not "alive", however, as they don't red or green outline, do any sounds or move. Hence, Zombielites.
The glitch can be performed by creating a great explosion near the Elite that you want to Resurrect. The snag is to betray your partner repeatedly in the same spot, crating a great pile of grenades , and then detonate all those grenades.(it is advised to do 15 betrayals for the best chances.) Because of this, this glitch can only be done in co-op.
After the Elite falls down, it has been noted that it will try to stand up again, if it is quickly meleed. Because of this, it has been theorized that the damage is the factor, and that it could be possible to "Smash the  Elites to life". This is still unproven, though, as is the whole reason of this glitch.
See here for a FAQ of Zombielites.

???

Hm? What is this?

Intel / SGP: SI Slogans - Help clarifying this list that was found!
« on: February 10, 2010, 18:59:00 »
Atarigen, an user in Bnet, who has been posting in one of the ODST Mysteries threads, seems to be pretty good finding Easter eggs: Not only he found The Sad Puppet, he found something more intriguing: A list of SI sayings, in the control panels of Data Sacks in Data Hive.
The thing is, the List seems to have some things that have not been heard before: for example, the very first line, that seems to read "CLICKIT OR TICKET" as Atarigen read it.
I can't be certain that there are more of new ones. However, there are many sayings that are little hazy and hard to read, so there COULD be some new ones...
Anyway, if you don't have anything else to do, you could at least give it a look.

ODST General Discussion / SGP: A Bnet Group
« on: February 05, 2010, 13:26:45 »
There has been some asking for a Bnet group concerning ODST Mysteries. how about making a Bnet group for SGP?
I think that it would be easier to reach, every little people shouldn't need making a new profile here. We could get some more ideas, no?
I would prefer CG makin' it, just cause he's THE boss :). But I can make it too, just if it's cool for everyone.
Who's with me?

ODST General Discussion / SGP: Bringing SGP to Halopedia
« on: February 01, 2010, 19:13:55 »
Meaning that I have made an account in Halopedia, and I'm gonna put our findings there. At this moment, I'm planning to write there about
  • Huragok glyphs (A little more proper name for Y-glyphs)
  • Plinths (No discussion about the name done, but what else could you call 'em?)
  • Zombielites (Or Elite Resurrection)

I am also planning to add some of the HaloCreations glitches there; they have awfully little ODST glitches there.
If you have something you would like me to add, post here (or just PM me).
Also, I'm pretty busy, so if any of you would be interested to write up one of these (or something else), it would be great.

Intel / 117 day!
« on: January 17, 2010, 22:10:24 »
There's a post in Bnet, and it says It's 117 day!! (Yes, you have to look it up from Bnet to know it.)
Also, did you know that it's exactly 117 days from ODSTs release? :o (Not my finding)
Coincidence? Or is it...

Intel / SGP: OXM UK issue 52 Bungie Interview: FINALLY!
« on: January 12, 2010, 18:39:12 »
Thanks to LUK4S from Bnet, we finally have the rumored OXMs Bungie's interview of ODST!
Here it is, from word to word!
__________

10 THINGS YOU MUST TRY IN HALO 3 ODST

BUNGIE SHARES TIPS, SECRETS AND CLUES FOR ITS NEW RELEASE.

Bungie is notorious for hiding secrets and references its games, and with the HALO universe getting bigger all the time theres plenty of material to work with. we asked the developers to point out some of the best in HALO 3 ODST.

1. BEWARE BIG BROTHER.
The superintendant is the all-seeing AI in charge of the security, transport and day to day running of New Mombassa. The eagle eyed among you will notice that once an area has been made "ONLINE" through comm terminals, the superintendant will activate tiny moving security cameras and follow you around the city.

2. STORY TELLER
You know about the supers weapon caches, but "there's something unique that happens" if you find all 30 of the hidden
Sadies story comm terminals, "or as many of them you can find in New Mombassa" teaser senior designer Lars Bakken. Bungies asked us not to spoil the surprise, but its pure fan service...

3. ETHICAL DECISION.
Big hearted gamers can choose to spare the covenants enslaved Engineers for an achievement- but its not going to be easy. "you have to be very careful," says Bakken. " in the same way that a brute cheiftans grunts will run away if you kill him, An Engineer that's supporting him might sacrifice himself."

4. SUPERSTASH.
Active followers of Bungies comm terminal radio play will be rewarded with the unlocking of weapon caches littered around the New Mombassa streets. There are five different kinds in total, including caches of sniper rifles, rocket launchers and even Mongooses to speed around the hub world.

5. KEEP IT (AND THE WALLS) CLEAN.
If you stumble upon Engineers hanging out without Brute guards, turn on your vision mode to spot the mysterious glyphs they've graffited on the walls. Creative director Joe Staten tells us: "these tell stories, not very clear-cut stories but they represent the shape of forerunner ships, etc."

6. BE LIKE MARTY, ONCE.
Playing badly is only considered virtuoso if you're a British sports team or Bungies audio director Marty O'donnel. If your going for the Be like marty achievement and keeping your hands clean of covenant blood, make sure the rest of your team aren't chasing it in the same game. It could last a while.

7. ODSTOTTY
Says Bugie. "There are a whole bunch of silly easter eggs that we put in. On legendary, when you're in your drop pod and you look over to your left , youll see a picture of your gilfriend... who looks shockingly like one of the lead graphic engineers at bungie but in female form. She's oddly alluring in a disturbing way." PHWOAR...

8. CRAZY MARINE.
One of few characters to appear in every halo game is "the crazy marine". in halo 1 his insane ramblings warn you of the flood invasion in the swamp mission, and he reprises his mental role in halo2 and halo 3. In ODST, you can once again witness the crazy marines outbursts in an area of the New Mombassa Zoo.

9. KEEP FIDDLING.
"We've never really allowed people to look around in cinematics before," says joe staten, offering a tease to ODSTs shiniest Easter egg secret. "There's at least one situation in ODST where fiddling with your joysticks is a very good idea. That's one of the deepest, darkest HALO ODST secrets.. its a good one." Keep on fiddling...

10.RARE BOUNTY.
With ODST in the shops, HALO 3s infamous Recon armour is finally accessible to the average (but massively skilled)
HALO player. completing the various VidMaster Achievments - the last of which is accessible in ODSTs firefight mode - will unlock special gear for worthy gamers. Good luck... you're going to need it.
__________

Thanks again, LUK4S!
To be noted:
-The article states that there are 5 different kind of supply caches in all, but only four have been found, I hear.
-Unlocking all the audio logs should make something unique happen. OXM also says it's "pure fan service".
-LUK4S said that the mag came out just before ODSTs release. Therefore, all these things should be in the game, and they wouldn't have been cut. But I'm not ceratin when was this interview actually made, so we can't be exactly sure if something was cut after all...

Theorizers / SGP: Triplicate - Meaning - Crazytalks about the Y-shape
« on: December 30, 2009, 20:52:48 »
Gah! I've been planning to write this thing for months, but I've "always had something else to do". If updating "Show unread posts" page is something else, then yeah.
So what is this stuff? Read, people.
___________________
Facts
Triplicate, of course, is a symbol, first featured in H3. So I didn't come up with the name by myself. Don't you remember what it looks like? Here, I have a picture of it:

Regonize it already? It's from ODSTs in-game HUD. CG has mentioned it in he's "ODST Secret Glyphs" article (he referred to it's shape, which I mention later in this thread). He also pointed out that the same symbol shows up in Achievement picture(s):
Super Sleuth, Gumshoe, and Junior Detective, though the symbol is not complete.

Also: I have discovered one place more where this symbol shows up!
In the beginning cutscene, where you watch trough Drone fighter's camera, look in the bottom-right corner.

Theorizes
Meaning
Everywhere where Triplicate shows up, it's somehow connected to surveillance or else of that kind:
In HUD, which you use as you'r map and you can also use to detect enemies,
In achievement pictures concerning finding the clues (+achievement names),
And in Drone camera which is obviously about surveillance.
Because of these facts we can be sure that Triplicate has something to do with surveillance, right?

Similarities
After some research, it was found that though Triplicate looks somewhat the same as the Asklon logo and the Y-glyphs, they are not identical match; the angle in the bottom branch is bigger in Triplicate than it is in Asklon logo And Y-glyph. Neither do the Y-glyph and Asklon logo match perfectly.
HOWEVER: When you look the City of New Mombasa from the sky, You can see that the highways make up a shape that perfectly fits the shape of the Y-glyph.

___________________

I may sound crazy, but at least part of these things sound very plausible, correct?
Post your own thoughts so I can add you to the "Crazy lunatics" list too!

Intel / December is coming...
« on: November 29, 2009, 20:34:55 »
You remeber when I've said that the QTA XII/VI=12/6 means something happens in December. Look what this quy said in Bnet:

Quote
Trancient ghost:
More... or tons of intel will be available on December 07 troughout December 16-20 or so. We will just have to wait. Its gonna be worth it.

I just sent him a message, but not sure is he gonna tell his source...
Well, just decided to put some pressure for the coming week ;). It might be true, you know?
