I found this well-written article about Halo 3 ODST and the connections it makes to Dante's Inferno, through some simple googling:

It's a good read, and is a good collection of references found before, some very fresh observations at least to me, as well as great conclusions about how this show's Bungie's skills to "weave game and world".
