Title: SGP: Asklon = AMG Transport Dynamics?
Post by: Imppa on October 24, 2009, 19:27:39
While looking at this (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Category:UNSC_Businesses) list john posted here (http://www.gruntspajamas.com/forum/index.php?topic=221), I found out that they hadn't listed Asklon there. Instead they have AMG Transport Dynamics (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/AMG_Transport_Dynamics), which is considered the "real name" of Asklon and vice-versa.
No, there's nothing weird or stupid in it, we know that bungie made some changes to NM after H2. Just wanted to point out that Asklon could also be a normal technics company as many other NM companies are, and not a mystery company that has something to do with "the secret"(As I have always thought[as I still do]).

Yes.  I mentioned this to Apollo on live last week sometime.  The logo is the same... it appears that ODST is filling in a little more of the company's back story.

It is a little peculiar that all of the buildings you can enter are theirs.

I did see the AMG building images from Halo 2, I believe they're either taken in Metropolis or Headlong.  As for Asklon in ODST, they're still a couple things that have not been resolved.  I'm not saying they're big mysteries, but information we still lack:

1.  The meaning of the Asklon poster with the list of cities on it.  I've confirmed locations for all of them on Sol minus on which is on Luna and one which I am sure of.  It may be another human colony world's city.  These cities could all be corporate headquarters for Asklon, so they might tie into the extended fiction further.

2.  The reason why ALL of the buildings you can access ingame belong to Asklon.  Did they also build the SI?  Did they have something else to do with the construction of the city itself?

I'm sure there's more loose ends than these, just from the top of my head.

I'm posting this here quickly so that my findings don't roll off the chat log. I'm on a dimly trip to New York, so of course Ark's article is constantly on my mind. Tonight I happened to see a building that caught my eye on the skyline as being oddly familiar. It turns out the  Citigroup Center (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citigroup_Center) is some kind of inspirational parent to  this AMG/Asklon building (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/AMG_Transport_Dynamics?file=AMG%20Building.JPG).

OH YEAH THIS! I totally saw this on some movie that took place in New York. I also totally forgot about it though. xI
Thanks for putting it here! :P

Huh, mystery solved, I suppose. All it took to look at the Halo Wikia article (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/AMG_Transport_Dynamics) linked in the OP, and note that the following is stated on the Trivia section:

Quote
The sign on the Tterrab Industries building seen in the level Metropolis in Halo 2 originally read "Askloun".[5] The name was slightly altered in Halo 3: ODST.

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0yjEi4YnDM) is the Halo 2 First look (linked in the sources, good job Halo wikia :P), at 1:26.

How refreshing does this feel, finding answers after such a long time! :D If what the Trivia suggests is true, then the "Askloun" name was set aside for the inverse name of Mr. Barret, the graphics designer of the game, or simply changed to AMG Dynamics. In ODST, however, Askloun/Asklon was probably seen as a more viable choice for a ambiance-creating company, and thus AMG evolve to Asklon. There is still a possibility that AMG is a branch of Asklon, or vice versa, as both names are still used. The proof for that is to be found from Forza Motorsport 4, where at this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAjk9g89xI4&feature=related) trailer (time stamp 1:10, at the very beginning of the manufactures list) "Asklon" is listed. Yes, the game indeed does include M12 FAV "Warthog" as an easter egg. Here's the interesting part: In the game itself, it is seemingly manufactured by AMG (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzUNdXPGOf4), not Asklon. (0:24, Great video by the way.)
Perhaps both names are used, perhaps they mean the same, or perhaps Microsoft (and everyone else) is now confused about the whole thing.

The world might never know.

It could also be a more widely used Easter egg than we first thought.  Take A113.  I first saw it on Andy's mom's minivan in Toy Story, then decided to do a little digging since every other license plate in the game was a standard jumble of numbers and letters.  Turns out it's all over the place in movies, in credit sequences, serial numbers, license plates, anywhere that might have a random sequence.  It's all over the place!

Back on topic though, it's possible thatAsklon/AMG could be another media-wide Easter egg.

For those that want a better image, I took this yesterday from the top of the Rockefeller Building:

On a side note, does anyone know how to get the bbcode to resize images? These things are HUGE
