Zombiecivs - Unzombifiable
« on: October 16, 2010, 19:18:12 »
Me and Twizted made a few discoveries while playing on Exodus.

We tried to resurrect a Civilian that we killed (that may be the reason why it wouldn't work) and the dead marine you see when the dropship full of brutes flies up next to you. It didn't work, and the grenade explosions don't seem to be as good as ODSTs, even with cowbell on.

Then later, we skipped a part of Exodus by flying up into the air, and then landing on a higher place. There, I jacked a phantom (entered turret) but it wouldn't leave, so I told Twizted to kill the rest of the covenant.

He did a grand job, but then these three grunts came out. They were invincible. I saw him shoot it 3 times in the face with a DMR, and the grunt birthday part effect happened each time, but the grunt would not die. That alone is a pretty cool discovery.

So I told him to go to the NAV point, so the phantom would leave. He did this, and then the phantom flew into the air as the death countdown started, flew me really far away, and then I died. Later I jacked another phantom but the damn kill barrier stopped me again.

At the end, where the falcons shows up, we managed to make one go under the platform. I got in the turret, and then he got teleported into the turret of the other one. The other falcon starts hovering in the air, and then Twizted randomly dies. My falcon would not move. Then I ended the game.

I will capture the invincible grunts and post it on youtube.
I feel it

Yeah, grenade nerf sucks. :(

I wonder here:
The Elites in ODST always spawned in the same position (down on the ground). The bodies we can resurrect should behave the same.
DO the Marines that in Lone Wolf always lie in the same position when the game starts/cutscene ends? If so, we should use the same Rewind Glitch to find same kind of bodies [that spawn in upright position], and try the resurrection glitch to them. This way, we can at least narrow the scope of our search. It may be hard to find these kinds of bodies though...

It can always be that the glitch has been removed, but that wouldn't be fun at all, right? D:

The only reason I can see why the glitch was in ODST was to foreshadow it in Reach... If it's not in Reach, what was the purpose?

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but most glitches are unintentional, right?

Actually, remember back before ODST release when they said they took out the BR? They took it out for a couple reasons. The main reason, was that its texture took up to much "(ram?)" or something, so they took it out. Along with the fact that Marcus didn't like it and it was too powerful.

The key fact here is Texture. Now go to the zombielites (you've seen zombielites before right?). That is a very large texture. Bungie could have gotten rid of that and put in something else. We've seen how the elites spawn. They don't spawn in an upright position. They do not appear in any cutscenes. So what is the purpose of this texture?

ODST was horribly unpopular, so only some people know about this "gleaster egg" ;). Thus we couldn't build on it and no Bungie employees could see it. Now, unless we message them, (and probably even not then), we will never know the meaning of zombielites.
We just know that it's not a glitch, unless the Bungie employees made a HUGE mistake. Which is not very Bungie like.

I would REALLY love it if you could dig a link up proving your point about the textures, Cycle.
And what do you mean "We have seen the Elites spawn"? EXPLAIN YOURSELF! >:(

I do agree that the mere existence of ZombiElite Glitch is weird, since it did not show up in Halo 3, EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINES WERE THE SAME. And if it only were about the method of how-to-place-a-dead-body, why can't we resurrect Marines?
It wouldn't been a HUGE mistake, though, since you don't usually go and blow up dead bodies. Bungie has also said that they have limited time to finbish the game, and they have to decide what are the glitches/bugs to fix and what can be left be.

MOST people don't. But I know some who might :)
ODST is all about switches, isn't it?

About the textures, I will find.

Tepec went in theater to see if they spawn upright, but they spawn already dead on the ground.

I seem to remember this...Didn't he look over the walls when he loaded the area or something...?
