SGP Task Force: 7 / Re: SGP: Report - Binary Data

Even though they may turn out to be nothing, those J markings are still bothering me. Why would they put those all over the city, in random locations, and with varying sequences? I thought they were possibly braille at first too, but quickly realized that they were not the correct format. Unfortunately, I am lacking in experience with programming codes. I agree that we could drive ourselves crazy trying to figure it out, but I just keep coming back to asking: Why did the designers go to so much trouble to make these look like they could mean something?

While I'm not certain that the SI is a forerunner construct, you are correct that this, or a similar marathon-like symbol has appeared in every other Halo game so far. There are way too many to list, but here are just a few examples off the top of my head:
Halo CE: On The Pillar of Autumn and on Capt. Keyes' pipe.
Halo 2: On doors on the levels "Regret", "Uprising", and "Great Journey".
Halo 3: In the terminals (image noted by ColdGlider above) and on the control panels of the elevators in the level "The Covenant".
I haven't seen a similar symbol in-game in ODST yet (allowing you to use this as an emblem for your firefight character doesn't seem like it counts), but I am going to be on the lookout for it now.

Danves and Vicious are correct regarding the engineer and Virgil. Based on the audio logs, it seems like Kinsler would have became aware of Virgil when he was trying to protect Sadie from Kinsler. Whether Kinsler knew about Virgil before the time audio logs were recorded is unclear.

If we were to conclude that these various items are glitches, what about the glyphs themselves? They are known to disappear and reappear which seems like a glitch, but what about when they just change slightly (i.e. super tri-glyph)? I guess we need more research on the text mapping issues.

I find it interesting that the large electronic sign above the outside of the security door in sector 8 is a UNSC advertisement that says:

Expansion.
Unity.
Opportunity.

There is also some fine print at the bottom of the ad, but I am unable to make it out. Using a sniper scope didn't help, so I went back to watch the film to see if I could get a better look at it, but to no avail. However, I also noticed that the smaller sign below that (in-between the door an the larger ad above) was red and said "access denied" in the film. However, I see only static in-game. Has anyone else noticed the smaller sign changing?
