In the mission Long night of solace there is a white cube and two balls.
To find them you...
1)Start a Long night of Solace Mission Start.
2)End the game and head to theater.
3)Start the film
4)Pause the film rewind to the start and Press B then Y then move around.
5)Look under the Sabre building.

Also I have no idea what they do and there solid so I can't enter them.

It might be similar to the Da Vinci eggs, from H3.  You never know.

Nice find CIA!

Weren't the davinci eggs the code for the map? Or whatever functions on the map?
The objects don't appear to do anything...

The Da Vinci eggs probably didn't actually make things happen. I'm not entirely certain, but I don't think that causing an action in a video game requires a texture on an object, and no beam is necessary to add an extra part to a function (I speak specifically of the Da Vinci eggs here; the landmines could easily have been programmed to activate on their own when a player got near, without resorting to a separate unit in a distant tower shooting them in order to activate them). My point is that proper use of Occam's Razor would take out the unnecessary parts to make a simpler, ie cheaper, function that does the same thing. Unless, of course, the designer left the extra units to be found. The Da Vinci grid in ODST seemed to have no function, either. This could be the Da Vinci secret of Reach, wrapped up in a new texture.

I don't know about ODST, but in sandtrap the eggs would fire a sentinalish beam at the mines if you aren't dying.

In the legendary commentary, Marcus Lehto said that the cutscene where Kat and Carter argue about the plan to blow up the carrier is actually modelled physically under the beach at the beginning of Long Night of Solace.

Maybe what you've found contains the spaces used in those cutscenes.  Or maybe he's leading us astray?

Source please? The commentary is too long for me to search it. :p

Hm...If I remember right, someone noted in the Bnet forums that the balls and the cube are 'solid' so-to-speak, since you can bump into them, unlike to the other landscape. Fishy much?
