Title: Barcodes
Post by: Scatcycle on March 11, 2011, 00:09:15
I just scanned the attached barcode. Look what it found:

Found barcodes:
1 : Code39, HALSEY, page 1, {X=538,Y=669,Width=417,Height=27}

The code is:
Code: [Select]
HALSEY
Yes! This means that the barcodes actually translate to something! Send me every barcode you find, because this could be big.

I'm working on as much as I can. Got a barcode? Post it.

EDIT: Barcode on packaging of journal:
Code: [Select]
X16-69868-01

I don't get it.
What is the translation of the code?
This?
Code: [Select]
Found barcodes:
1 : Code39, HALSEY, page 1, {X=538,Y=669,Width=417,Height=27}

This?
Code: [Select]
1 : Code39, HALSEY, page 1, {X=538,Y=669,Width=417,Height=27}

This?

Code: [Select]
Code39, HALSEY, page 1, {X=538,Y=669,Width=417,Height=27}

Also, this just made my day.

Well, I think the one thing that matters is that it says HALSEY, but I think Halsey is just the code. The X any Y stuff are coordinates (of the barcode on the picture, it has to find it inside the picture I give it), Found Barcodes: Is it telling me that it found some, 1: is because there can be two barcodes or more at once. I guess your third choice would be the best. Basically whatever seems extraordinary (in this case Halsey) is the code. I'm experimenting with others right now.

Request: Could someone please get a picture of this:

A picture of something belonging to the legendary edition, I think. (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QNllJjwoYsc/TJRRVbuIstI/AAAAAAAAAEc/w73CtA-B9nw/s1600/IMG_2568.JPG)

But High quality and right up to the barcode? It would make my day.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_39 .
Code 39 just means It's a bardcode. Page 1.... I don't know. But it's not the actual data.

Isn't that the package of the Journal?

I think so, and I know many SGP members have the journal, so if anyone could provide a good image of that barcode I would be delighted.

I can...not get it soon, because I'm heading out near Scatland for Spring Break. But I can confirm that that is the Journal's packaging.

Doubly confirmed.  The journal arrives in that package.  Black bubble-wrap with a custom ONI sticker holding it closed.

Well CG, it seems you are the last hope. If you can get a picture, great.

Near California? Where are you going, Vegas?

Using Pulses Image, It scanned this:

Found barcodes:
1 : Code39, X16-69868-01, page 1, {X=1517,Y=193,Width=874,Height=1}

Basically, It found this code:

Code: [Select]
X16-69868-01
Interesting...

If anyone finds anymore barcodes, please send em in.

The Ubiquitous Number! I think Bungie is trying to tell us something...

Found 2 more barcodes, and a new Shotcode (shotcode isn't anything special.).

Neither of em worked, you can check the barcodes out in my recent screenshots though.

Posting new ones: Barcode on Soccer Ball for Forge found this:

Found barcodes:
1 : I2of5, 112395, page 1, {X=1,Y=400,Width=815,Height=1}

But that is only half of the barcode so I think that's a glitch.

I might be that they aren't exactly telling anything, and they are just those funny little ubiquitous numbers...I would still say that they are some sort of a ONI archiving system, but since it can be seen in all papers of the diary - even very personal papers, that aren't related to ONI, really, - it is possible that it is something else...Perhaps time will tell.

I am sort of relieved to hear that the barcode bears the code, since it was quite weird for the package to have it in the first place. Good job. :)

I'm using a phone so I'll be brief. You know the x code they're on other xbox things aswell. Take the ODST Reach Beta leaflet for example. It has
Part No. X16-04017-01 on it. Sorry if the zeros have dots in them phone sometimes does that.

Yeah, I think we (or at least I) know that already. It's practically on everything that is made by Xbox or Microsoft Game Studios. For example, Alan Wake and Crackdown both bear the same codes on the back of their cases, and when you buy a new Xbox, even the handles and padding have it over them!

It might be that Bungie is a bit overdoing it, or that it is really that important. It may be something in between, though...I mean, who would bother putting it on a barcode? xD

I think it is something like a part number, so it's obligatory.
Because, for example, the Limited Edition has several parts (the journal, the bubble-wrap, the case, the disc, etc.) and is to be assembled by robots , every part must have an ID, somewhere, somehow.

I guess that's just it.

Which reminds me that it has still not been found a code on the journal itself...
