SGP Task Force: Arkive / Re: SGP: Asklon = AMG Transport Dynamics?

It could also be a more widely used Easter egg than we first thought.  Take A113.  I first saw it on Andy's mom's minivan in Toy Story, then decided to do a little digging since every other license plate in the game was a standard jumble of numbers and letters.  Turns out it's all over the place in movies, in credit sequences, serial numbers, license plates, anywhere that might have a random sequence.  It's all over the place!

Back on topic though, it's possible thatAsklon/AMG could be another media-wide Easter egg.

Halo 4 General Discussion / Re: Catherine Halsey Research Excerpts

System: Catherine Halsey Research Excerpt. 11 February 2550.

Dr. Halsey: The interesting factor here isn't that H-1 disabled the viral termination code I implanted in her matrix.

Dr. Halsey: These metrics imply its success wasn't just unlikely, but that even the accepted 7-year life cycle estimates may not apply.

Dr. Halsey: Thus far, I've determined that the unique circumstances of her creation have triggered what I can only refer to as a recessive variant in the AI seed.

Dr. Halsey: As her architect, I'm currently at a loss as to the origin of this rogue element.

Dr. Halsey: Very curious.

Halo 4 General Discussion / Catherine Halsey Research Excerpts

Located in one of the pieces of the wreckage of the Dawn at the beginning of the level Requiem is a computer monitor on its side with a prompt to "access log entry."  I took pictures of the entire entry subtitles and will transcribe them here, and I recommend that the rest of you also keep an eye out for this and any other log entries that we may find.  It pertains directly to what I can only assume is Cortana, yet Halsey only refers to her as H-1.  You'll see what I mean when I post the transcription.

Spoiler in this next line, so unless you've finished the campaign, look at your own risk!

It may even be possible to unlock a separate ending and save Cortana from rampancy if we find all of the logs, similar to the audio logs in ODST.    Just my thoughts.

-Found on 75th
-If she's yours, call Dan 784-.

And yes, the black part is black on the poster.

When is it referred to as a "she"?

The poster says that "she's" not house trained, for one. I'll get it transcribed this weekend, but I have to take care of my work first.

I can't help but notice something odd about the cat poster. Initially it's identified as male, but whenever it's referred to, the pronoun "she" is used. Any reason for that?

Intel / Re: XOS 2

That is very true.  However, the technology behind them all is the same.  It actually amazed me how far we've already gotten with this; I thought we were years behind this.

Deloading the area only removes the items that are there, not the items that you equipped while in the area.

Otherwise, the weapons you picked up at the beginning of a level would disappear from your hands the moment you went to another area.

You mean Buck has an actual presence? He's not just talking over the comms, he has an odst model?

It's possible to see inside the ODSTs' helmets with some glitch or something, right?  Has anybody checked to see if he has his face?

There are hanging seraphs inside the hangar, and if you'll look closely you'll see that there are also Space Banshees docked behind force fields near there.

Is it possible to destroy the gun on the pelican?  If it's destructable, that may lend more credence to it being a usable vehicle.  And if so, that may mean that the seraphs will be destructable as well, if they can be entered.  It's worth firing a rocket or two at those docked Seraphs to find out.

However, Pelicans are an interesting case, as far as vehicles go.  There is no animation for entering them, whether it be the pilot seat or the gunner's.  Even when using the switches on New Alexandria to fly one, you have to bring the nose of the craft near enough to a teammate for them to "get in", basically bringing the gun within the distance they need to "hold RB to enter".  Piloting the pelican and manning the gun are two completely separate actions, required by two completely separate people.  Seraphs are one-man craft, so I don't think it would work.  Also, a pilotable Seraph is destructable, which goes back to what I said about trying to damage the ones in the hangar.

Intel / The Assembly may have its own origins
« on: September 10, 2011, 16:25:57 »
Do we all remember the Assembly, from the datapads? Surely we haven't gotten sidetracked THAT much so as to forget?

Well, read this and let me know if this seems familiar. Not verbatim, but reminiscent.

I think the bloom is a good feature. Why? Because it's more realistic. A real gun has recoil. They had a similar feature with the smg, where you would actually start aiming upwards. The bloom makes for a more realistic gameplay, and you feel more immersed in the game, more like a person than a robot controlled by a joystick.

As for whether I like bungie or 343 more, I cannot make an informed opinion until I see what they do with the game. I seriously hope they keep the same voice actors (although most of the main cast will have no role; Miranda Keyes and Johnson are dead, and most of the rest are lightyears away in an unknown direction.

We know the music will kick 'asm, though!

Somewhat forgotten, somewhat busy, somewhat sidetracked.  I'll get back to it when I can, when I feel inspired, and when I've got nothing better to do.
