Its not like Bungie employees need to feed their families or anything, so why would they need to make money?

Point taken. Concur.

Oh, did anyone notice the ammo count in his SMG? Obviously it is a superior weapon :P

Speaking of which, their shooting was really off the mark. Either they did it on purpose (to be more theatrical for the show (which they were, even without the poor shooting)), or it was a carefully planned move for Bungie to put the suckiest players on the stage.  But yeah, probably the first one.

We all know that developers suck at their own games :P

I completely forgot about the Sea Venture having a dog. Moral of the story? Go to sleep sooner.

I had a discussion with some friends a while ago about something like this. We came to the conclusion that since Bungie claims to want to keep the story in Destiny alive for the next ten years, it would be impractical for them to write those stories/events themselves. The only thing that made sense to use is if players can join the factions (Dead Orbit, Seven Seraphs and FWC, off the top of my head) and infight. That would explain why Bungie registered those web domains a while ago, to give players a "home base".
It would make sesn if there was some kind of market system built into the faction system, and that may be what is alluded to here.

Random thought that may require investigation, in regard to the "It's a clue!" paw print on the long sword. Bungie has pretty much pointed out that a crashed longsword (or shortsword?) is a clue. Where else is does one of these appear? Maybe Bungie is pouting to the one that crashed into the stature at the end of CM:UR

I guess I just assumed everyone say this, but in one of the posters, Earth is shown with a small white circle at it's top right 'corner', supposedly the moon. This is stupidly similar to the 'dead orbit' faction logo.

Is the Destiny logo an abstraction of the sad monoglyph??

Report In! / Re: SGP: Secret detonator on CM:AS
« on: June 09, 2013, 17:24:29 »
Alright. Sounds like we need to get three players (at least) and science this. I propose these experiments:

-Two players at the same time
-Two players, with a second or two between to test  if the detonator arms once for everyone or individually
-Two players multiple times in the same run through to see if the detonator re-arms. Both staggered and simultaneously

(a third player, so two can keep jumping down te hole without having to go back a checkpoint)

I can't get on until Friday, but I'll be happy to put together a test plan spreadsheet after CG's own heart for data collection in the meantime.

So does this mean that there is a separate detonator for each player, and it can only be set once? In other words:

Player A jumps down, arms the detonator. If player B jumped down after, would he arm it as well? And if player A goes again, it would not arm, because it already is armed?

Wow, so it is confirmed to be an actual teaser. And here I was thinking this was a convenient coincidence. Now that we know Bungie has been planning and/or working on Destiny for this long, I'd say that any speculated features are concievable.

For those that want a better image, I took this yesterday from the top of the Rockefeller Building:

On a side note, does anyone know how to get the bbcode to resize images? These things are HUGE

Halo 4 General Discussion / Re: Halo 4 Glyphs

Getting a little lonely there, CG? :) I did do a double take when I saw that username.

I haven't seen any of this, so all my hypothesizing is based on the previously posted image. It seems like the Forerunner-like designs around the edge of the image suggest a link between Oni and the Forerunners. That honeycomb pattern could imply either Forerunners or Covenant. Since I haven't played Halo 4, I have no idea how relevant the covenant are, so this may all be useless :P

I'm posting this here quickly so that my findings don't roll off the chat log. I'm on a dimly trip to New York, so of course Ark's article is constantly on my mind. Tonight I happened to see a building that caught my eye on the skyline as being oddly familiar. It turns out the Citigroup Center is some kind of inspirational parent to this AMG/Asklon building.

I have to agree with Foman says: at this point it's really hard to tell what the map really is, be it for looks or future content. While Bungie certainly has gone to great lengths to include real world ties in their games, we really just don't know enough to definitively say what the star maps are for.

And I share your feelings, Immpa! I count every one of you among my friends, even though I haven't even heard most of your voices. Unfortunately I have a concussion right now, so thinking hurts :( As soon as I get better, I'll get back on my Hunter's Guide, and start following up on leads!

So, well, The Bible part, I guess, is a bit unstable.

Here's the part about Uplift Reserve being man made in Ark's article. I guess the proximity of information caused me to get Battery Park (cited as being made from soil removed from rivers) confused with the reserve.

When If I have time, I'll look into major shipping/mail companies in Mombasa or Africa to see what I can find. Who knows, there might be something.
