SGP Task Force: The Cartographers / Request: Map of Data Hive
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:14:07 »
Well, guess what. There is no published map of Data Hive. We can be the first. I need this map to display locations of vents. If anyone could somehow get the parts of the map where you fight in wide corridors, it would be great.

I assume this would require a capture card, as someone would view the map while having the capture card on, so we can then take pictures from the video and put them together to make a map. CG? I remember you having a capture card. If this is too time luxurious for you, it's ok, we can find another way of doing it.

Report In! / The vents of Data Hive
« on: February 22, 2011, 21:21:54 »
One time me Night and Twizted were out and about playing ODST on Data Hive, when we found this hole in the ceiling. We jumped up into it, and found vents. These vents went on for a very long time, but only ever lead to a wall.

We found the mother vent. We went inside, we walked for a huge amount of time. It just kept going up. It was a dead end.

Why would Bungie include these super long vents?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Go to the firefight lobby. In the background picture, you should see a structure with 2 windmill like (more like circle mill) beams jutting into the sky. Look below them. You should see an elite pointing  to a direction, commanding the grunts to go there. He is holding an energy sword in his LEFT hand. Once the picture moves to the right a bit, you'll see another elite on top of the structure, looking at the camera, holding an elite in his left hand.

In the Lone Wolf ending, you see an elite foot in the way of the camera, and then his energy sword, which is held in his left hand.

Thel Vadam used the energy sword in his left hand, if I am not mistaken. Could these be descendants of Thel?

Theorizers / No Stone Unturned
« on: February 13, 2011, 19:18:08 »
I'm sure that you've all heard the song "No Stone Unturned" by Martin O'Donnel. This song is in ODST, of course.

But I feel as if there is more to this song. Let me tell you my thoughts:
No Stone Unturned. Even the title is thought provoking. If we relate this to secrets in ODST, it means search everything. Leave nothing untouched.

Now lets go into the song. It starts out as a journey, trying to find something. At 20 seconds, you think you've found it! The following music afterwards implies that you have not found it, you were mistaken. You put your head down and manifest the loss. Then you look up, and think: "I can find this. I CAN FIND THIS!".

At 1:30 a depressing music starts playing. After many valiant attempts, you just cannot find it. These failures convince you that it is nonexistent. Then you think about earlier, how you said you will find it. "I will find it!" You say again. At 2:40 you know you can find it. You will stop at nothing. Your journey starts again, hence the fast paced music. Your head is up, not down. You are getting closer. Closer. Closer... There. 3:17. You've found it.

Now how about us, the SGP. Lets find it.

This is a WIP of the waves on Lone Wolf. I will keep working on this until it is finished.[/list]

    So Otto said this:

Will we get a little extra something by beating the game on Legendary?

    Yes. Two things.
    1. You get the achievement, "A Monument to All Your Sins".
    2. The last level "Lone Wolf" is much harder and the enemy wave configuration differs slightly from the Heroic version.

Sorry. That's it. If you don't believe me, beat the game on legendary and watch for yourself. I'm not sure why there is so much heated controversy over this issue since you can easily verify it yourself.

Now this is interesting. First, this doesn't disprove the alternate ending, because he said "No, you won't get anything other than these two things for beating it on legendary".

I assume the alternative ending requires something more complex.
    This is what intrigues me:
"2. The last level "Lone Wolf" is much harder and the enemy wave configuration differs slightly from the Heroic version."

Wave configuration differs? Could this mean that Field Marshalls are in the Lone Wolf level?
    There is something fishy here...

I suggest we try to last as long as we can legendary lone wolf. We need to find a place where the covenant come at us one at a time, so we can kill them. Letting them sit there makes it so no other covenant can spawn, so the next wave will not hit.

    Anyone with me?

Intel / Black Spartan Discovered In PoA
    « on: January 19, 2011, 22:40:30 »
I'm guessing that has to do with either an easter egg, or the final cutscene. Since bungie cinematics are not pre-rendered, and are ingame, they may have that spartan be the model we see when we tilt the camera to the right in the final cutscene.

    Here is the Bungie post.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Bungie Copyrights websites
    « on: January 11, 2011, 23:20:23 »
    Bungie Copyrighted the following websites:
    • DeadOrbit.com
    • DeadOrbit.net
    • DeadOrbit.org
    • NewMonarchy.org
    • SevenSeraphs.com
    • SevenSeraphs.net
    • SevenSeraphs.org

    Bungie claimed seven websites...

    Intriguing eh?

    Research:
    Dead Orbit

    Seven Seraphs

    New Monarchy

    Osiris

Seraph: A Seraph is an angel, specifically the fifth rank of angels, according to Judaism, but are the tenth rank according to the Christian angelic hierarchy. I do not see why Bungie chose to write "seraphs", because the plural is actually "Seraphim". I assume the covenant vehicle, the seraph, is named after Seraphim. So this would mean that Bungie has made an error, or have invented their own character/race/species.

I found this in one of my Farewell videos... pretty cool easter egg.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Aerospace.org countdown - fake?
    « on: January 01, 2011, 16:26:54 »
    http://bungieaerospace.org/

This site is countdown to something in three days. I myself, thing this is fake. Bungie already has their site, aerospace.com. Why would they make a new one?

The creator lives in Denver, Colorado. I believe this is fake.

With a gravity hammer and a buddy you can get up to the Mac Cannon Emile is in when you are supposed to be fighting the covenant so Keyes can land. You can hold X to get in, and then Emile jumps out. You can push him off the edge but he just cowers in the corner.

I haven't found any secrets over there though. You can shoot your friend. You cannot break Keyes's ( <wait is that correct) pelican, or the other ones. You can destroy the incoming phantoms so you don't have to kill the brutes. I have a vid, I'll put it on my fileshare later.

    Here is the youtube video.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Elites: The lack of Field Marshall
    « on: November 26, 2010, 15:13:23 »
Throughout the whole game, we see about 7-10 zealots. We see some generals. We never see a Field Marshall.
In fact, we see Generals before we see Zealots in Lone Wolf. Generals are of a higher rank. Why is it that it jumps straight to Generals?

Here's my thought: There is a Field Marshall somewhere in the campaign. We just have to find him. Maybe we have to survive long enough on Lonewolf, and 3 Field Marshalls pop out.

In the campaign, Zealots seem to be higher class then Generals. They go on all the crucial missions. To be straight, the Generals suck. They are easy to kill in the campaign.

Thunderstorm does not make Zealots Generals, and It doesn't make Generals Field Marshalls. What is the point of this rank? To tend to the elite lover fans? All they did was add different shoulders and two horns to zealot. If they are doing it just for matchmaking, they could have at least done a better job.

So whadda say? Field Marshall in campaign?

Halo Reach General Discussion / Sad subtitles at Kat's death
    « on: November 18, 2010, 03:00:34 »
If you play with subtitles at Kat's death, once it goes all black you can see subtitles, but you cannot hear anything but the music. The subtitles say something along the lines of : "Close the doors!" "It's going to be okay." But there is much more. Is this just to emphasize the damage the Covenant is dealing? Because it sure saddened me to see those subtitles. They seem like civilians, but I don't know why they would be in one of those buildings.

So the point of this, is that maybe there is something hidden in these subtitles. Or it's just to emphasize the sadness of Reach. If it's the latter, it truly worked. I definitely felt sad when I saw those words.

If you think it's the latter, describe how it makes you feel. If you haven't seen this, go play New Alexandria with subtitles on!

Halo Reach General Discussion / Detail cut out on split-screen?
    « on: November 15, 2010, 00:36:46 »
I was playing on Pillar Of Autumn with a friend on split screen, and when we got to dead Emile, he didn't have the skull carved into his face. Is this because only a small amount of detail is allowed on split-screen? Or did it just bug out?
