Halo 4 General Discussion / Catherine Halsey Research Excerpts
« on: November 22, 2012, 02:55:41 »
Located in one of the pieces of the wreckage of the Dawn at the beginning of the level Requiem is a computer monitor on its side with a prompt to "access log entry."  I took pictures of the entire entry subtitles and will transcribe them here, and I recommend that the rest of you also keep an eye out for this and any other log entries that we may find.  It pertains directly to what I can only assume is Cortana, yet Halsey only refers to her as H-1.  You'll see what I mean when I post the transcription.

Spoiler in this next line, so unless you've finished the campaign, look at your own risk!

It may even be possible to unlock a separate ending and save Cortana from rampancy if we find all of the logs, similar to the audio logs in ODST.    Just my thoughts.

Intel / The Assembly may have its own origins
« on: September 10, 2011, 16:25:57 »
Do we all remember the Assembly, from the datapads? Surely we haven't gotten sidetracked THAT much so as to forget?

Well, read this and let me know if this seems familiar. Not verbatim, but reminiscent.

Intel / Fly the Seraph
« on: May 09, 2011, 20:55:25 »
Yes, yes, I know, there's tons of videos of flying seraph fighters on LNoS.  This one is interesting, though, because it teaches you how to fly one that is normal size.  And I must say, the detail on it is incredible.

Intel / New Armor Lock use

Check this and see what else you can do with the Armor Lock.  Have we ever used this for anything?

Forge / Operation: Triage
« on: April 27, 2011, 02:17:53 »
Operation Triage is now in effect. What does this mean? What will it bring? And how long will it take to be revealed?

All questions that I do not have the answer to. Just know this: your favorite Phantasm has finally had a forge idea that has the potential to be completed in a decent length of time. Hopefully it'll be playable in a future Gathering Point!

Work-In-Progress (Halo: Reach) / Pressing the Switches - WIP
« on: April 19, 2011, 01:13:21 »
Great progress was made today, denouncing the myth that it is impossible to finish The Package with the switches pressed.  Whether this is due to protecting the Scorpion from annihilation, bumping the AA batteries, or just normal proceedings has yet to be determined.  Nevertheless, this does not detract from the video that Nade and I made earlier today.  Nigh on three hours of footage depicts four switches being pressed (as one must press a switch to exit the Tribute Room, I count four, not three) on a nerve-wracking Legendary Run with a surprisingly low amount of lag.

I also made my first visit to the fabled Tribute Room as well.  I was amazed by the detail, the amount of content, and especially by the databases.  Nade had to go, and I needed to get off soon myself, so transcripts were not possible.  Another visit will bring riches in content.

Video will be up soon.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Mayday!
« on: March 22, 2011, 01:27:27 »
Here goes the first community story for the future Reach Fan Fiction!

Warning lights flashed, and the hull began to radiate the heat of an uncontrolled reentry burn.  Gripping the door to the cockpit as tight as he could, the Spartan codenamed Phantasm looked to see what remained.  True to his recent string of bad luck, anything that had not been destroyed by the Fuel Rod blast was now no more than a slag heap from the burn.  And the pilot?  It wouldn't even be worth scraping what was left of him off the controls.

Another blast rocked the Pelican as Phan returned to the troop bay, and knocked him off his feet.  As he tried to regain his balance, another shot sent the dropship spiraling out of control.  How long can the suit counteract the G's, he wondered?  As if in answer to his thoughts, his vision began to gray and he could feel the blood draining from his head.  Looking around, he could see the rest of the Spartans bracing themselves for the impact.  He, however, HAD to have traded off on the stronger pressurization system and impact plating for his photo-receptive layer and control unit.  Oh well, no sense fighting for consciousness anymore... if the fall won't knock him out, the impact will....

Intel / Drivable truck

You read it right, a drivable truck.  Not Forkie, and not that cart/trolley thing either.  A REAL truck.

Intel / Safezone under the Spire
« on: March 05, 2011, 18:32:19 »
I chanced across this little video, and learned about a secret box room far underneath the Spire.  In this room is a safe zone, that seems to have no purpose.  I think it might be worth investigating.

Work-In-Progress (Halo: Reach) / Reach the Vidmaster!
« on: February 28, 2011, 20:10:46 »
Ok, one more thing to worry about, fuss over, and wear out our brains on.  This thing, right here:

We've all seen them, and most likely we've all got at least one of them killed on our career info on Bnet.  I personally have three at this point.  The task set before us is long and harrowing:  Find these bad boys, kill them, and see what happens.  We also need to figure out whether the boosting banshees (on New Alexandria and Exodus) and the white Elite on ONI actually count as BOBs.

Along with this, we will also hit switches.  We've found eight so far.  The Four Banshees (2).  The Rave (1).  The Siege of Madrigal (1).  The Pelican/Phantom Egg (1).  The Secret Room (1).  And the Reach Racers (2).  But what if there are more hidden, that have not been uncovered?

Bring to the table any info you have on BOBs; where they spawn, what they look like (does the white BOB have any friends?), how long you have to kill them before they disappear, etc.  We want to make a fully comprehensive guide on the BOBs, which seems to be painfully lacking as of now.  One guide, that has everything one would need if they wish to find and kill BOBs.  This would include maps, detailed descriptions of the location, stats on how many shots it takes to knock out their shields, what weapons they carry, and so on.  If you think it'd be helpful, it wouldn't hurt to add it.  Let's get going, people!

Intel / Shotcodes... ARE NOT shotcodes at all
« on: January 05, 2011, 23:24:07 »
That I can see, at least.  I had a few doubts, but this just pretty much convinced me.  Take a look at these two images.  The blank shotcode is first, and the second image is from Enigma's early shotcode investigations.  All I did was cut it out of the background.  There are black and white spots where they should not be; ie, in what should be the solid black outer ring and the alternating solid black/white rings in the middle.

This doesn't mean that this is the end of the investigation, by any means!  Perhaps there is still a code hidden within these images, using the same coding as the shotcodes?

And what should we call these not-shotcodes?

Report In! / Drivable wraith
« on: November 29, 2010, 02:56:35 »
I can't remember the name of the level, but it's the one where Mickey highjacks the phantom.

In one of the tunnels, there is a watchtower at one end, and at the far end is a mortar wraith. If you rush the level, and fly in as soon as you can, you can make it to the end of the tunnel where the wraith is, before a brute gets in it. This means that you can get in a wraith that has not had a brute pilot, and will not have the failsafe engaged. I discovered this with my brother, on normal coop. Of course, you can't do anything with it since you have to cross more of the submerged city to continue, but it proves a point. It proves that there's a way to drive the wraiths in ODST without fear of them always exploding as soon as you get out.

It definitely can't be done with every wraith, but if you find the ones that don't load with a pilot in them, you can find a way to pilot them safely.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Hologram in the bar on New Alexandria
« on: November 25, 2010, 23:28:26 »
Everybody know the big orange hologram in the bar on New Alexandria, where the team sent to destroy the jammer is trying to fight off a large group of hunters?

You can stand on top of it.  You can't go through it, but grenades and bullets can.  I wonder if there's anything to this more than a misplaced barrier?

Forge / ForgeHub
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:35:15 »
I've got a friend in ForgeHub, and he sounded interested when I mentioned one of the maps we fought in, on SGP Day.

If we ever want to take any of these maps public, he can see if they're good enough to go on FH.  He helped make a map that actually made it to MM on Halo 3, so he knows his stuff.
