Since Scat recently commented over here that my BOB video had "too much dead time", I figured it was a great opportunity to upload an EVEN LONGER version of the Winter Contingency BOB Guide with over 50% MORE dead time!!!

I agree with Scat, actually- these videos aren't necessarily the kind of thing you'd invite friends over to see in your Home Theater Room.  Unless you were me.

What these videos do accomplish is to document the facts.  They make it very plain to see where these guys are, and that they DO in fact grant the challenges that directly call them out as BOBs.  In short, they allow the SGP to clear VOIDO.

Looking over this video again, it does stand out that many of the BOB spawns I followed ended with them simply despawning.  I think this is important to see- as is the fact that they will run across the entire zone if you lead them there- but it's about exciting as the Reach loading screen to watch.

So do YOU have an exciting BOB Kill Video from Winter Contingency?  Consider this a challenge!  Get me a film clip and I'll post that sucker up.

BOBs / Confirmation Video Now On YouTube: BOB 6-B-01
« on: October 24, 2011, 09:55:38 »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PQcy6QlZ9o <==

BOB 6-B-01 has now been officially confirmed with the "If It Bleeds..." daily challenge from 2011.10.22.

Noxser recorded the game at SGP HQ, and I edited in an introductory Theater Mode walkup to the BOB before his game footage.  The video serves both to confirm the BOB as "official" by virtue of the challenge it grants and also as a guide to locating him.

ALSO:  Homer's SGP video (The Winter Contingency BOB Guide) has only received 2 "likes" and 2 comments - and that includes mine!  If you have a YouTube account, please give this video some lovin':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdZyZFtWtmE

Here is the info from the new BOB video's description on YT:

Quote
On 10/22/2011, the daily challenge "If It Bleeds..." appeared and allowed SGP Member Noxser a chance to not only earn 5,000 credits, but also to confirm that BOB 6-B-01 (aka "The Control Room BOB") counts toward the challenge.

This video opens in Theater Mode, showing how to get to this BOB yourself after you have allowed the Pelican to land in Rally Point Bravo of "Long Night of Solace". The footage then switches to a video recording of Noxser's Xbox,, allowing us to document the challenge completion.

After BOB is killed and the challenge is granted, Noxser dies and returns to his checkpoint- before BOB was killed. This allows him to kill BOB a second time. Note that the challenge is only granted once, but he received two "Elite Light Vehicle" kills in his post-game carnage report. He also received two "Seek and Destroy" medals for this game on bungie.net:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=833757259&player=...

A saved film of this game is currently in Noxser's File Share:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=24514853&player=No...

Keep in mind that BOB spawn points are chosen randomly when you begin a campaign mission. For this reason, you will not always find this BOB present. If he does not appear, then (like all other BOBs) it simply means that a different BOB spawning point was chosen for your particular game. He may have spawned on the beach at the beginning of the mission (BOB 6-S-01) or will spawn later when you return to the Pelican (BOB 6-B-02). This can result in an "Impossible BOB" scenario if you choose to begin the mission from a Rally Point. When you start from a Rally Point, the BOB spawning location is still chosen randomly from all available locations in that mission: even locations before the Rally Point you are starting from! This way, you cannot force a BOB to appear every single time by starting from Rally Point Bravo.

This game was recorded in the US at 1:45 AM EST on 10/23, which corresponds to 10:45 PM PST on 10/22. Challenges don't reset until about 3:00 AM PST / 6:00 AM EST. This is why the Xbox Guide Menu shows a time of "1:44 AM" during game, but the history on bungie.net lists the game occuring at "10:45 PM"

Halo CE General Discussion / Research Topics
« on: October 19, 2011, 19:38:10 »
The individual threads we have for skulls, achievements, levels, etc are meant to be a repository of mostly FACTS about those items.

When we look back through these threads, we shouldn't have to page through tons of speculative posts, or conversations between members.  Sure, some theorizing will be required when we're actually trying to find these things in-game next month.  It may also be somewhat interesting to see the history of what we thought things would be like and what they actually turned out to be.  But-as much as possible- let's try to keep these threads focused on what we actually know.

Speculation- when not based on any facts- isn't very valuable to us in the long run.

That being said, Scat had a valid point (before I nuked the whole conversation) over in the Skulls area that IF there were BOBs in the new CE, then we'd need to check to see if Iron would affect them.  It's a pretty smart connection, and would be useful to BOB hunters.  But since we don't yet have any confirmation on BOBs in CE, it's a little soon to flag that as something we'd need to check when it launches.

It's also potentially misleading to even use the term BOB in the context of CE.  We don't want to start any rumors.

This is an exciting time, and will only be getting more exciting as the release date draws nearer.  We will want to post more frequently and discuss our hopes and wishes and predictions- that's natural.  But we don't really need to document that permanently- at least not in the same place where we are documenting actual feature confirmations, discoveries, etc.

If you guys really feel that we need a "Theorizers" type board in here, then I can accommodate.  The floor is certainly open for discussion.  I'm trying to keep the SGP focused on what the SGP does best:  detailed research and presentation of facts.  Posts that matter.  I'm trying to KIC, people.  If you feel I'm being too militant about this, please let me know.

Welcome to the SGP research topic for Halo CE Anniversary skulls.  Replies to this thread should:

a)  ONLY regard Skulls in Halo CE Anniversary
b)  NOT be about a specific skull.  For that, find the existing topic for the skull.  Check the "Index" topic for help.

Has anyone carried a skull through to the end of a level to see what happens?

On October 14, 2011, The Halo Waypoint website released the list of achievements in Halo CE Anniversary:
http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/headline/halo-combat-evolved-anniversary-achievements/285109

When the game releases, we'll have to check the Waypoint app on XBL to see which of these achievements unlock items in-game.  I don't believe Bungie ever used a secret achievement in any of their games, but since this wasn't done by Bungie, make sure any achievements you get are on this list!

Intel / Lord Friendship's HBO Tutorial on BOB 6-S-01 (LNoS Drop Pods)
« on: October 13, 2011, 08:14:13 »
User "Lord Friendship" has a well done tutorial on finding and killing BOB 6-S-01 over on HBO:
http://forums.bungie.org/halo/archive36.pl?read=1078377

This is technically old news, as his article was posted back in June.  Nevertheless, it's germane to what some of us have been doing over in Reach WIP and is definitely worth reading if you care about BOBs.

Scatters and I can corroborate much of what he details, and it seems that the scripting for this BOB spawn may have been less-than-stellar.

I have also contacted His Friendshipfulness and invited him to the SGP.  Here's hoping for a new member!
