Halo Reach General Discussion / Jorge's visor
« on: July 11, 2011, 17:55:24 »
I may have been seeing thing or maybe my TV sucks but I swear I saw Jorge's Visor change colors from yellow/gold to red.

This can be easily checked.

Start Noble actual, when everyone is heading out of the bunker to board the falcons look at Jorge's visor. When I saw it I assumed that maybe the Sun/ Light just hit it the right way or maybe there is a active/ non active option.

Take a look when you have time and let me know what you think.

Codes found on LNOS

UNSC GRD M142008.
GRD M01408-G

Possible meanings

The ASCII code for capital M is 77
M14 = DMR
G = 7th letter in the alphabet.

GRD = 7-14-04 (Epic connection)

7-14-04 = On July 18th, 2004, ilovebees.com was launched and gave way to more questions to Halo fans.

GRD?

 2.1. Ground Resolved Distance
Photogrammetric were measuring spatial resolution of aerial photographs using empirical methods long before the first scanning sensor was placed in orbit. These methods integrated properties of the imaging system with the other external factors that determine spatial resolution. Ground resolved distance (GRD) is the parameter of most interest, because it measures the applicability of an image to a specific task. The GRD of an image is defined as the dimensions of the smallest discernible object. The GRD is a function of geometry (altitude, focal length of optics), equipment (internal system spatial resolution of the camera or scanner) and also on reflectance characteristics of the object compared to its surroundings (contrast).

Performance of a film, film and camera, or deployed aerial photography system is measured empirically using standard targets that consist of black-and-white bars of graduated widths and spacing's (figure 6-9 in Slater et al. 1983). The area-weighted average resolution (AWAR) in lp/mm (line-pairs/mm) at the film plane is determined by measuring the smallest set of line pairs that can be discriminated on an original film negative or transparency. Line pairs are quoted because it is necessary to discriminate between one object and another, to detect it and measure it.

Film resolving power is measured by manufacturers under standard photographic conditions (also in lp/mm, e.g. Smith and Anson 1968, Eastman Kodak Company 1998) at high contrast (object/background ratio 1000/1) and low contrast (object/background ratio 1.6/1). Most terrestrial surfaces recorded from orbit are low-contrast, for the purpose of estimating resolving power of film. Kodak no longer measures film resolving power for non-aerial photographic films (Karen Teitelbaum, Eastman Kodak Company, personal comm..), including films that NASA routinely uses for Earth photography.

AWAR can be measured for the static case of film and camera, or for the camera-aircraft system in motion. For example, AWAR for the National Aerial Photography Program includes effects of the lens, resolving power of original film, image blur due to aircraft motion, and spatial resolution of duplicating film (Light 1996). Given AWAR for a system in motion, the GRD can be calculated by trigonometry (see equation A2 3 in section 5in the Appendix, d = 1/AWAR and D = GRD).

An impediment to similar rigorous measurement of GRD for orbital remote sensing systems is the lack of a target of suitable scale on the ground; thus, spatial resolution for most orbiting sensors is described in terms of a less all-encompassing measure, instantaneous field of view (see below). Additional challenges to measuring AWAR for a complete astronaut photography system include the number of different options for aspects of the system including different cameras, films, and orbital altitudes. These elements that must be standardized to determine AWAR provide a useful list of those characteristics of astronaut photography that will most influence GRD.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Unlocking something
« on: July 08, 2011, 19:04:51 »
If you guys remember correctly in Halo 3 when trying to find the Catch skull on the mission "The Storm", the way to unlock to skull was to kill one of the Wraiths and leave the other one untouched. If you killed one of them the skull would appear, but if you killed them both the skull disappears completely.

I am wondering if there is anything that might change during normal game play by using this old tactic to uncover something.

Basically do a mission DON'T kill enemy vehicles and maybe back track to see if there is any changes or check around the area where vehicles are and see if there are any changes..

Just a thought.

During TLNoS there is a Wraith and by surviving 5 waves of never ending Covey attacks a Drop ship comes down. The occupant quickly disappears, maybe the wraith is connected some how?

Wow, Just wow!

I think we might have better luck getting a hold of the artist and asking them where they got the idea rather than get a waypoint(343)/ Bungie employee.

I feel like we should be playing ODST and looking for that center piece.

I really feel that they are just using Reach/ ODST as semi free advertising to promote the Revision of Mythic (do you mean Myth?)

No. There's something more, otherwise they wouldn't have shown what they've shown in PAX 2009.

Yea I do.

How does it relate to Reach?

It doesn't.

How do Marathon references/achievements relate to Halo?

Bugie made both games.

I feel like my theory holds water. or at least holds some spit.

I really feel that they are just using Reach/ ODST as semi free advertising to promote the Revision of Mythic and Mythic at least the name has been with us since Halo day 1.

Myth and Bungie West Edit Myth and Bungie West section Edit

With the Marathon book closed, the Bungie team decided to try something they have never done before. Bungie fans were expecting another first-person shooter, but instead, what they got was a Real Time Strategy game announced on December 6th, 1996, seven weeks after Marathon: Infinity released. Bungie realized thousands of gamers will pick up "Myth: The Fallen Lords" and will be hungry to test their mettle in online battles without reading the manual or dealing with complex network settings. With this in mind, on October 14th, 1997, Bungie announced it would configure a free Internet game server, called bungie.net, to include every feature one could wish for to deliver one-click multiplayer gaming as quickly and easily as using a web browser. On November 5th, 1997, Myth: The Fallen Lords was released. The Myth series is set in a fantasy world that was inspired in many ways by Glen Cook's Black Company novels. It details the 17th year of fighting in the West, in battle against the Dark. The Dark is lead by 6 Sorcerers of breath taking power known as The Fallen Lords, and are lead by Balor. The war effort in the West is lead by a council of 9 powerful Avatara known as The Nine. In the middle of all of this lies an elite group of soldiers within the Armies of the North known as The Legion, and the story revolves around their exploits, and journey, within the war. The Story is told from the perspective of a journal writer within the Legion, and follows his perspective on events, often with historical inaccuracies and rumors of events. 1997 also marked the year when Bungie opened a second studio in Silicon Valley, San Jose, California, called "Bungie Studios West" or "Bungie West", where it worked on a separate project than "Bungie East."

Thoughts?

Halo 4 General Discussion / Re: Halo 4 E3 Trailer

Duel Armor abilities (sprint is always on)
No duel weapons
Drop in and out Multiplayer co-op Matchmaking
AA's and pick ups
DMR
I agree with everything but these.

This is why I think so..

No duels - I feel like if there was that MC would have had a 2nd weapon attached to his side, Obviously the weapon he has in his hand is a modified pistol so why only one? probably because if he had two it would be over powered. This makes me think that maybe more than just the pistol can be modified which probably means no need for duel wielding.

Drop in and out MM - Afking is more of an issue now. This may just be due to the cR but I think everyone always wanted to join a friend while they were in the middle of campaign and we have all felt the sting of someone quitting in the middle of a match, playing a 4vs1 isn't fun and I think 343 knows this.

AA's and pick ups - I feel like some of the AA's are going to be forgotten about and replaced. I think the bubble shield, mines, power drain, portable turret, drop shield and maybe some new ones will come back to Halo. IMO you will be able to throw a bubble shield on a man cannon and fly up with it while using your jet pack or while clocked throw a mine down in front of a warthog...

Duel Armor abilities (sprint is always on) - We have been given the taste of fast movement! I feel like the game moves so much better with the ability to run and I think 343 has taken notice, running is almost a FPS must have and I think sprint will be a slandered ability. I do think it will still have a cool down time but I do think it might be possible to run while jet packing, cloaked, or new AA....

DMR - I think although similar the BR and DMR are totally different weapons and both have there own cult following. I feel like both weapons will make the cut or a new BR/DMR highbred BMR single fire w/bloom ALT fire 3 round burst (less accurate).

This is 343's game and not Bungie's so to break away from Bungie I feel that we are going to see some changes and a little of the same.

What I think based on what I think:

Forerunner weapons
Duel Armor abilities (sprint is always on)
No duel weapons
destructible environments
Drop in and out Multiplayer co-op Matchmaking
True skill rank
Assassinations
AA's and pick ups
4 grenades
Weapon melee damage based on weapon
DMR and BR
Weapon attachments
No more cR. Armor is found in campaign and or earned based on skill
Ridicules secrets
Game types that include scarabs/ Elephant/ Pelican/ huge robots
