You can see it! well only for less than a split second... and you cant really see any features...

Go to lone wolf and die...  and watch the video in theater...

When you kill the white elite and turn to punch the orange one, start to go frame by frame. On your recoil you can see like 2-4 frames of your face (or side of it anyhow).

The elites I speak of are the first 2 in the video...

Go try it and tell me what you think.

nah... you can barely make out anything...
My friend pointed out that it (the face) look like the inside of the elites arm...

so it might be nothing...

I think that this scene was one of the most cruel things Bungie could do to us.  We've NEVER seen any of the faces of the characters we've played as  :(

Well, Rookie was the main person on ODST, and the others were only playable because of the flashbacks.  So I don't think they really count. 

This was such a tease q.q

Some claim to have seen Master Chief's face on the Halo 3 Beta:


Here it is lit from a charged plasma pistol complete with annoying shower sounds in the background.


These videos are why my Spartan in "Perchance To Dream" had a mustache, by the way. :)

The idea behind keeping the character faceless is so that anyone can project themselves onto the character.  This is supposed to be good, but often only results in the NPC's breaking character to refer to your qualities.  "This is one of those times when it pays to be the strong SILENT type."

It's like Snakeyes.  Is he really potent, but just showing amazing control?  Or is he not speaking because he doesn't have anything intelligent to say?  I think the worst version of this was MechAssault 2, where the gal keeps referring to you as "Mechwarrior" and you get the feeling the main character that is supposed to be the blank slate on which you write yourself, is just a hulking cruel mute incapable of the most rudimentary of human interaction.

Yo, good to see you, Dunder.
I've heard that the face seen in the videos is a model of Marcus Lehtos' face, commonly known as the face model of the original Marines. :P

Faceless protagonists are a bit troublesome: when created right, you can see yourself actually doing the things your protagonist does; when done badly, it only results in a stupid, flat character. (I know, I am repeating thethings you just said there, Moose. >.<)

In my opinion, Master Chief was a great example of a Silent Protagonist: Even though he is not completely silent, every single word has a meaning, and he doesn't talk nonsense at all. Every line is also said inside the cutscenes, which gives you a chance to project themselves on the Chief during the combat. A bad example would probably be Rookie, because he doesn't speak anything, and he's almost more like a bystander in the game, a meaningless soectator in the game.

Noble 6 six is probably in the middle. XP

I just posted because I was glad to see Dunder here...don't blame me on copying his content (I'm also very tired)...

He said it was the inside of the Elites elbow... He was mistaken. You cannot see Noble 6's face. There actually is no face model for him. It would be a waste of space.

Not only would it be a model that is only seen once, for two frames out of the entire f***in game, they'd have to make TWO models, for the male and female Sixes.

I wonder... (ADD talking here) would we be able to glitch this cinematic, if we figured out where it was?
