ONI BOBs

Unbelievably amazing work CG! (Needless to say, I share the opinion of your godly state with Pulse.)

But is the spawn in which the BOB spawns completely random?

Also, about the white Bob: When you re-enter SB, on the entrance there is a White General with dual-wielded Repeaters. He runs away, and killing him will count as a BOB kill. On the Reach Secrets forums, he is named a "Wannabe-BOB". I don't know if ALL of he BOBs are white, though.

Imp, remember when we thought the appearance of the Tri-glyph was a matter of random luck?

And are you sure the White BOB wields two Repeaters? I thought it was Plasma Rifles?  ???
I am tree.

The white BoB on ONI is randomly generated.  That is, it can be any armor configuration that you will see in the game.  To date, I have only seen one person claim to have seen the Gold Ranger, and I have not had a reply from him/her in the month since I first sent a message.

It can also spawn on the ground floor of the staircases; the part that is used as a multiplayer map.  I know this for a fact, because I've killed him at the back end of the room, underneath where the Engineer is on The Package.

And yes, pulse, they're Plasma Rifles.

Phantasm, I remember I went to kill the White BOB and did not get a BOB kill. You looked at the stats, so can you tell me if you remember what really happened?

And confirmed, white bob has plasma rifles.

It was confirmed, scat. You got the Seek and Destroy. The white Elite is a BOB.

Wow, I could have sworn I replied to this.

Thanks Phan.

CG Brought up that the Kill a Golden Elite Ranger challenge would be a good way to test things out.

We should all have designated BOBs in case this challenge comes up again. NA Bobshee, Exodus Bobshee, ONI White BOB.

I'll bring this up in CG's post.

Makes sense that the BOB sneaking into ONI would have to be extra wiley.  Being able to morph into any armor configuration is pretty nifty.  I like the Elite Spec Ops with Elite Ultra colors in Scat's photo.  Naturally, I'm excited to begin cataloging the different versions that appear on ONI.

Imp:  to answer your question about random spawns, I would have to say yes.  There was no perceivable pattern by which the spawn location was chosen game after game.  Sometimes you'd get the same spawn in a row.  It actually took me all night before I pinned down W-2... that was the last one I found.  I wouldn't be surprised if there's more... even though 7 is the perfect number.

The fact that a BOB in a particular load zone can have up to seven random spawn locations is obviously part of what has been confusing about these things for so long.  Just because there are seven spawns doesn't mean there are seven different BOBs: there is never more than one at a time in the zone.  But think about this:  if you find a Bob in a DIFFERENT load zone in the same campaign, then that BOB has to be considered a separate entity, which could have up to seven randomized spawn points of its own!  This is why I feel that understanding these spawns is important.  People may have confused a BOB in one load zone with a BOB from an adjacent load zone because of their physical proximity.

Huh, didn't know about the Random armor. Thanks for correcting, guys! :)

IF they are random (since as 'asm said, there might be something that varies it), the boundaries that trigger the Bobs MUST be carefully researched. If we are to make a guide to help people find the spawns, but we cannot tell the exact spawn, we must at least tell them the fastest way to locate it. I mean, if there are 7 spawns IN EVERY LEVEL, finding and killing every one of them might take time without a proper way to locate them before they disappear.

Well, Imppa, it ought to take a long time.  There's definitely SOMETHING to these BoBs, and whatever Bungie/343 Industries has in store for them will be more than just challenges, I assure you.  Otherwise, why would they have put so much time and effort into them?

My point is, the very reason we should work on it is that it takes a long time.  Everyone'll be grateful to the geeks that actually spent so much time to do what they themselves didn't feel like doing.
