SGP: Squidhenge/Stonehenge - It's uses in the real world
« on: October 07, 2009, 05:21:28 »
The Stonehenge that is located in england may have a significant importance in regards to the Squidhenge that is located in halo ODST.

It has been theorized that Stonehenge was a place of worship or healing and could even have been used for rituals.

Could this relate to the Squidhenge in game?

A very useful article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonehenge

If I recall, it was also tied into star positions / astronomical events. perhaps there is something to this.

Yes you are quite right.
Has anyone noticed stars in ODST?

LOL!  Back on October 4th, BNET forum member Honorable Sniper was right!

Quote
next they will find a cloud that looks like a sword, and make theories about swords falling from the clouds. if you shoot the right starts in a certain order that when you add it up , and find the square root, equals 7

(I believe he meant "stars" and not "starts".)

Then again, they thought Copernicus was crazy.  I would be absolutely elated if this turned out to be something, having tried (and failed) connections with stars in other games.  Whoops... did I just admit to that?

Isn't there a Stonehenge in the middle of the sunken area where the magic wall is? aside from the Squidhenge.

Yes and no... and we need to clear up the terminology a bit.

Tayari Plaza=TP=near the starting area=Dare's Pod crash site=the namesake of the first campaign mission=the location of your goal in the TP mission=the site of the cinematic at the end of the TP mission=the site of the Firefight missions "Crater" and "Crater (Night)".
It is located in District 05=D05

Because Tayari Plaza is a named place in the city and the name of a campaign mission, references to it can be confusing.  At the SGP, a lot of work is done in the Mombasa Streets (MS) level outside of any of the six proper campaign missions.  In this context, TP is used the most to refer to the actual plaza in D05.  Perhaps CM-TP is a better designation for the mission as opposed to the plaza.

Anyhow, to your question:
There is a henge-like structure in the center of TP here but it is altogether different from Squidhenge.  There are four slabs of dark material that look like stone columns in TP.  No one has ever reported glyphs appearing on these structures.  It is indeed located next to a "magic wall", but again we run into context.  The Magic Wall in D04 gets so much press that people have largely forgotten or ignored the one in D05.  No glyphs have yet been reported to appear on the D05 Magic Wall in TP.  The most that has happened is that the banner on that wall has disappeared and reappeared.

Squidhenge is comprised of six stone columns.  Glyphs cover each column.  As you are probably well aware, it resides in D06.  Its nearly-identical mirror room is in the inaccessible District 02.  No one knows a darn thing about District 02 so far other than the fact that we can't get into it.

The "Sunken Plaza" is a nearly identical plaza to TP.  It's in District 04 and is the site of the Magic Wall, per se.  Glyphs abound.

Hope this clears things up!

Got it. I will need to write down these anagrams. Probably a dumb question ( no such thing lol ) has anyone tried using the mongoose trick? ( player being forced to exit the left side of the vehicle, sometimes the player is forced out of maps, gates or walls)

Yes, Black Ops has been all over that.  From the top of my head, I know that it has been done by both VsH Tepec Fett and Kenji.   :)

You should try the Bump Glitching, though... if you're interested in glitching into areas!
